FAQ
Short answers to the questions people ask most about CodeMorph.
Is CodeMorph free?
Yes, during the beta. Everything that ships today is free, with no account required. See pricing for what paid plans will include.
Does CodeMorph upload my code?
No. Scanning, planning and verification run entirely on your machine. Conversion and Ask requests go directly from your machine to the provider you configure, using your own key.
Can I keep using my current editor alongside it?
Yes. CodeMorph uses its own application name, settings folder and extensions folder, so it never interferes with other editors.
Which projects work best?
JavaScript projects with a package.json: React, Next.js, Vite, Node and Express apps, libraries, and test suites in Jest or Vitest. Mixed JavaScript and TypeScript projects are fine.
Does it handle CommonJS?
Yes. require() and module.exports are parsed and resolved just like ES module imports.
What about circular dependencies?
Files in an import cycle are grouped and always migrated together in the same batch.
Which AI model does it use?
Your choice. Anthropic is the default provider, and you pick the Claude model from the Morph panel or codemorph.ai.model. Ollama support for local models is coming.
When do macOS and Linux builds arrive?
They're planned after the Windows beta stabilizes. Join the waitlist and you'll get one email when yours is ready.
Does CodeMorph add any to make things compile?
No. Files that can't be typed cleanly stay in review with their remaining diagnostics, so you can see every place the types gave up.
Can I stop halfway?
Yes. Stop at any batch boundary and resume later. Accepted files are ordinary changes you can commit at any point.
Will my tests still pass?
That's exactly what Run & Verify checks. A conversion that changes behavior shows up as a failing test, and you can reject it.
Does CodeMorph work offline?
Editing, Scan & Plan, review and Verify work offline. Conversion and Ask need your model provider.
Can I use it on my employer's code?
If you're allowed to use a third-party model provider with that code, yes. If not, wait for local models with Ollama, or ask your employer which provider account to use. See Model provider terms.
