Ask Morph

Ask questions about your migration and your code, and get answers grounded in the dependency graph and real call sites.

The Ask tab is where you question Morph about your code and the changes it made. Morph knows every change it made and why, and it can read your dependency graph, so answers point to real files and lines.

Asking Morph why a type was chosen

Asking a question

  1. Open the Morph panel with Ctrl L and select Ask.
  2. Type your question in the box at the bottom.
  3. Press Enter. The answer streams in as Morph writes it.

Ask uses your Anthropic key and the model selected in the model picker.

Good questions to ask

About a type choice

Why is price a number and not a string?

Morph answers with the evidence, for example that every call site does arithmetic with it, cartTotal multiplies it by qty, and orders.ts:42 adds it to shipping.

About a file that needs review

Why does payment.ts still have any?

About structure

What imports models/user?

Which files would be affected if I change the Cart interface?

About the migration itself

Which batches are left, and which files are in review?

Why did orders.ts need two repairs?

Turning answers into changes

If an answer suggests an improvement, ask for it:

Make CartItem.sku a branded type and update its users.

Morph proposes the change as diffs for you to review, then you can re-run Verify.

Getting better answers

  • Name the file or symbol, or add it with @, so Morph reads the right context.
  • Ask one thing at a time. Follow-up questions keep the context of the conversation.
  • Ask for evidence. "Show me the call sites" gets you line references you can check.
  • Start fresh with CodeMorph: New Chat when you switch topics.

Privacy

Ask sends your question and the relevant code and context to your configured model provider, under your account. Nothing goes to CodeMorph. See Privacy and local data.
