Mac beta
Install CodeMorph on a Mac
This takes about five minutes. CodeMorph is free during the beta.
1. Pick the right file
There are two versions. Use the one that matches your Mac.
- 1Click the Apple menu (top left) and choose About This Mac.
- 2Look at the line that says Chip or Processor.
- It says Apple M1, M2, M3, M4 (any "Apple M"): download Mac (Apple Silicon).
- It says Intel: download Mac (Intel).
2. Install
- 1Double-click the file you downloaded (it ends in .dmg). A window opens with the CodeMorph icon and an Applications folder.
- 2Drag CodeMorph onto Applications.
- 3Close the window, then eject the CodeMorph disk (click the eject button next to it in the Finder sidebar).
3. Open it the first time
This beta isn't registered with Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first time you open it. You only do this once. The steps are the same on macOS Sequoia and recent versions.
- 1Open your Applications folder and double-click CodeMorph.
- 2macOS says it can't verify CodeMorph. Click Done (or OK). Don't click Move to Trash.
- 3Open System Settings (Apple menu > System Settings) and click Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
- 4Scroll down to the Security section. You'll see a message that CodeMorph was blocked. Click Open Anyway.
- 5Enter your Mac password (or use Touch ID) if asked, then click Open Anyway once more.
CodeMorph now opens. After this, it opens normally like any other app.
If macOS says CodeMorph is "damaged and can't be opened"
This message sometimes appears for apps downloaded outside the App Store. The app isn't actually damaged. To fix it:
- 1Make sure CodeMorph is in your Applications folder.
- 2Open Terminal: press Command and Space, type Terminal, press Return.
- 3Copy this line, paste it into Terminal and press Return. Nothing is printed when it works.
xattr -cr /Applications/CodeMorph.appClose Terminal and open CodeMorph again from Applications. If macOS asks you to confirm, follow step 3 above.
Check the download
Optional, but a good habit. Each download has a checksum, a long code that identifies the exact file. If yours matches, the file is the one we published.
- 1Open Terminal and go to your Downloads folder with the first line below.
- 2Run the second line. It prints a long code.
- 3The code must match the one shown next to the download. If it doesn't, don't open the file: download it again and tell us.
cd ~/Downloads
shasum -a 256 CodeMorph-0.1.0-beta-mac-arm64.dmgThe code for the Apple Silicon file: 93be7b22e77bc10cbc062afd2425ee2909e59bc60d2d5e836069c48814779ed7
For an Intel Mac, use x64 instead of arm64 in the file name.
Your API key
When CodeMorph asks for your Anthropic API key, it is stored in your Mac's Keychain and stays there when you quit and reopen the app. macOS may ask once whether CodeMorph can use its Keychain item. Click Always Allow. You can also use a local model with Ollama instead of a key.
Sending feedback
Click Send feedback in the Morph panel menu, or in the Help menu. It opens an email with your version filled in. You can attach a diagnostics file: CodeMorph shows you everything in it before saving it. It holds logs and run statistics, never your source code or your API key. You can also write to support@codemorph.codes.
