  1. v0.1.0Beta

Scan & Plan and the Morph panel

The first public beta. CodeMorph can now scan a JavaScript project, build its dependency graph and plan a leaf-first migration to TypeScript.

The first public beta of CodeMorph is out for Windows. This is the release where the editor stops being a rebranded shell and starts understanding your code.

Scan & Plan building a dependency graph

    Scan & Plan

    • Dependency graph. CodeMorph parses every .js, .jsx, .mjs, .cjs, .ts and .tsx file with tree-sitter and resolves every import: relative paths, index files, tsconfig and jsconfig path aliases, barrels, re-export chains, CommonJS and dynamic import().
    • Import classification. Each edge is recorded as a local file, Node built-in, package, asset or unresolved, so gaps in the graph are visible instead of silent.
    • Leaf-first batches. Files are ordered with Tarjan's strongly connected components algorithm, so every file comes after its dependencies and circular groups always stay together. Components are packed into batches of about ten files.
    • Local graph store. The graph lives in a local SQLite database. Nothing leaves your machine.
    • Respects .gitignore. Including nested .gitignore files, so node_modules and build output stay out.

    Morph panel

    • New Morph panel in the secondary sidebar with Migrate, Verify and Ask tabs.
    • Ctrl L opens Morph, overriding expand-line-selection the way other AI editors do.
    • Ctrl Shift M runs Start Migration from anywhere.
    • Morph's open or closed state is remembered per project.

    In the editor

    • Explorer status dots. Grey for JavaScript that hasn't been migrated, green for files that are already TypeScript.
    • Typed counter. The status bar shows typed files out of total, and opens Morph on click.
    • CodeMorph: Set API Key stores your Anthropic key in secret storage, never in settings.json.
    • New settings codemorph.ai.provider (anthropic or ollama) and codemorph.ai.model.
    • The Welcome page layout now adapts to narrow windows.

    Notes

    • Installers are unsigned, so SmartScreen warns on first run.
    • Windows x64 only.
  2. Pre-release

Windows installer, Welcome page and the first Morph UI

CodeMorph gets a real Windows installer, a Welcome-first startup and the first version of the Morph panel and title bar.

    Windows installer

    • User and system installers plus a portable .zip, built by CI on every version tag and attached to GitHub Releases.
    • Branded installer: CodeMorph license page, wizard artwork, and file names that carry CodeMorph's version number.
    • The About dialog now describes CodeMorph only.
    • Code signing is wired as an opt-in step, ready for a certificate.

    Welcome first

    • CodeMorph now always opens to its Welcome page, with Open Folder, Start Migration and recent projects, instead of jumping into a walkthrough.
    • The getting-started walkthrough is available on demand, with a clickable tour thumbnail.
    • Fixed a flash of the wrong theme at startup.
    • Spacing, alignment and hover states tightened across the Welcome page.

    Morph panel and title bar

    • First version of the Morph panel in the secondary sidebar.
    • The title bar gains the project name and branch, a plan pill and an avatar slot.
    • A polish pass across panel gaps, corner radii and title bar controls.

    Build reliability

    • Pinned the Windows build to the VS 2022 toolchain and capped install concurrency to remove flaky CI failures.
    • Fonts now bundle correctly in the desktop build.
  3. Pre-release

    CodeMorph gets its own identity

A clean foundation with telemetry off, and a visual identity built around Geist, Bricolage Grotesque and a warm dark theme.

    A clean foundation

    • Morph is the built-in agent. No third-party AI assistant ships with the editor.
    • CodeMorph branding throughout, with an automated guard in CI that keeps it consistent.
    • Telemetry off: telemetry and crash-report endpoints are disabled in the product configuration.
    • Open VSX is the extension registry.
    • Corrected setting defaults so CodeMorph's chosen defaults actually apply on a fresh install.

    Visual identity

    • Fonts: Geist for the interface, Geist Mono in the editor and Bricolage Grotesque for display type, all bundled and open source.
    • CodeMorph theme as the default: warm near-black surfaces with an orange accent.
    • Floating panels: borderless cards with consistent gaps and corner radii, a reworked tab strip, status bar and scrollbars.
    • The CodeMorph drop in the title bar and as the empty-editor watermark, checksummed in CI so it can't be altered by accident.
    • The empty editor lists the main actions: Start Migration, Run & Verify, New Agent Chat, Open Folder, Show Terminal and Search Files.
  4. Pre-release

    Day one

The CodeMorph editor repository is created, with CI building a Windows installer.

CodeMorph started with a small, reproducible build: branding, a short list of named changes and a CI pipeline that produces the installer from tagged source.

    • Scaffolded the reproducible editor build.
    • Added the CodeMorph icon set, generated to every size from two source files.
    • Set up CI to build a Windows installer on every version tag.
    • Pinned line endings and toolchain versions so builds are reproducible across machines.
