Settings and API keys

Morph's AI features use your own model provider. CodeMorph doesn't resell tokens or route your code through its own servers.

Set your Anthropic API key

1. Open the Command Palette with Ctrl Shift P.
2. Run CodeMorph: Set API Key.
3. Paste your key (it starts with sk-ant-) and press Enter.

You'll see CodeMorph: API key saved. The input is masked, and pressing Esc or submitting an empty value leaves any existing key unchanged.

How the key is stored

The key goes into the editor's secret storage, which is encrypted with your operating system's credential protection and scoped to the CodeMorph extension. It is never written to settings.json, never synced with your settings and never logged.

To replace the key, run CodeMorph: Set API Key again. The new key overwrites the old one.

Choose a provider and model

Open Settings (Ctrl ,) and search for CodeMorph, or edit settings.json directly:

Anthropic

Uses your key from secret storage. Pick the Claude model from the model picker at the bottom of the Morph panel, or set codemorph.ai.model. Usage is billed to your Anthropic account under its terms.

Ollama Coming soon

Runs open models locally through Ollama. Nothing leaves your machine. Set the provider to ollama and the model to an installed tag.

Privacy defaults

These are set in the product itself, not as user settings you have to find:

• Telemetry is disabled.
• Crash reports have no destination configured, so they're never sent.
• The Extensions view uses Open VSX, not Microsoft's marketplace.
