System requirements

What you need to run CodeMorph, what your project needs for Run & Verify, and what isn't supported yet.

CodeMorph is a desktop app. Everything except AI requests runs on your own machine, so the requirements are about your computer and your project's own toolchain.

Operating system

PlatformStatus
Windows 11, 64-bit (x64) Available now
Windows 10, 64-bit (x64) Available now
Windows on ARMNot supported in the beta
macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) Coming soon
Linux (.deb, .rpm, AppImage) Coming soon

See the macOS and Linux waitlist to hear when your platform is ready.

Hardware

CodeMorph is built on Code - OSS 1.141.0, the open-source core of VS Code, so its baseline matches VS Code's.

ResourceRequirement
Processor1.6 GHz or faster, 64-bit (x64)
Memory1 GB RAM for the editor itself, plus whatever your project's typecheck, tests and build need
DiskSpace for the app (similar to VS Code), plus your projects and their dependencies

If VS Code runs well on your machine, CodeMorph will too. Scanning is fast and light. The heaviest work on your machine is Run & Verify, which runs your own typecheck, tests and build, so a machine that runs your project comfortably today will run CodeMorph comfortably.

Network

FeatureNeeds network?
Editing, Scan & Plan, reviewNo
Run & VerifyOnly if your own tests or build need it
Conversion and AskYes, to reach your model provider (for example api.anthropic.com)
ExtensionsYes, to reach open-vsx.org

If your network uses a proxy or firewall allow-list, the destinations above are the only ones CodeMorph features need.

For conversion and Ask

  • An Anthropic API key, set with CodeMorph: Set API Key. See Settings and API keys.
  • Credit on your Anthropic account. Usage is billed by Anthropic.

For Run & Verify

Run & Verify runs your project's own tools, so your project needs to be runnable on your machine:

  • Node.js in the version your project expects.
  • Installed dependencies: run npm install, pnpm install or yarn first.
  • TypeScript as a dependency, so npx tsc resolves to your project's version. Add it with npm install --save-dev typescript if it's missing.
  • A test script in package.json for the test step, and a build script for the build step.

Tip

Before your first migration, run npm test and npm run build yourself on a clean checkout. If they pass now, any failure later points at a real change.
